Queen Latifah paid homage to Breonna Taylor on Sunday (July 5), just days after what would have been the Louisville, Kentucky, native's 27th birthday.
The rapper/actress joined a chorus of other stars who celebrated Taylor, an EMT who was killed more than two months ago when three plain-clothes officers serving a no-knock warrant in an attempted drug raid on the wrong apartment shot her eight times.
Latifah posted a tribute video in which her 18-year-old cousin, Breyana, sang a mournful "Happy Birthday" to Taylor in a message that also amplified the urgent call for the charging of the officers in the case. "It has been a month since then and Breonna’s killers have not been charged. Call the KY AG Daniel Cameron at 502-696-5300 and demand he charge the officers. #JusticeForBreonna," Latifah wrote, amplifying a message that was also shared by Beyoncé, Lizzo, Janet Jackson, Meek Mill and others.

Bey posted a drawing of Taylor with information on how to seek justice for her killing, while Lizzo provided instructions on what to say when you call Cameron's office and the message, "She should be here. Instead she was murdered by police in what they’re calling a “clerical error”. They barged into her home without knocking and shot her in her sleep. She worked for us during the covid pandemic, she was an innocent civilian. SAY HER NAME. DEMAND JUSTICE ON HER BIRTHDAY. NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE."
